George Bush is Attacked by Shoe

Yesterday President Bush was giving a speech in Iraq, when a reporter took off his shoe and through it at him. Luckily for the President, he was able to dodge it. Throwing a shoe in Iraq custom is one of the worst insults possible. It means you think someone is lower than dirt. Let me make one thing clear - I am a moderate democrat and have disagreed with many of Bush's polices. I am happy to see him coming to the end of his term. Despite this, my first emotion when hearing this story was surprisingly - anger. Hate him or love him, Bush is the President of the United States and thus - the international figure head of our country. Despite his flaws he is an American through and through and I honestly believes he loves this country. As a citizen I would still put my life on the line to protect him. Everyone blames him for the mess in Iraq, but if people think back to post 9/11 hysteria - everyone was looking for someone to lash out at. We pushed for this year whether we want to admit it or not. This was not entirely his fault. I can't help wonder what the reaction would have been if it was President-elect Obama who had a shoe thrown at him. I don't think as many Americans would be joking about this incident then. I know we have made a mess in Iraq and that half the population despises us. We are responsible for our actions and probably deserve repercussions. Regardless, throwing a shoe was not and is never the correct course of action. For all those who are calling for this reporter's freedom, understand this - no matter who you are, you cannot expect to attack the President of any country and get off with a slap on the wrist.

Colts Regaining Form

After watching the Colts struggle through the first four games of the season, I was having some very serious doubts.  The Titans and the Jags both look very strong, and for once I was contemplating a postseason without the Colts in the picture and it was bleak.  However, like Manning said, he missed all of the preason and needed time to work back into form.  They got it.  Marvin Harrison - who all said was done, looked great.  Peyton had time in the pocket for the most part, the offensive line deserves credit there, and the defense, looked strong enough not to lose games.  Congrats especially to the secondary which is hurting but still able to plug in people and perform.  While I know i'm biased, I really believe there is a decent chance that the Colts catch the Titans and hold on to the division title for another year.  With Brady hurt, I think Peyton is the clear cut best qb in the league and with a qb of his caliber, theres always a chance to win it all.
